The Swoosh in Accra and Lagos.

The Symbol of Greatness

After spotting the Swoosh on moving vehicles for years on both Accra and Lagos we dived into the world of the Swoosh by conducting a field research on Lagos Island, with a local fixer, and a mini documentary in which we ask people on the street about the relevance of the Swoosh in their local context.

By the time, Nike never owned an official store in either Accra or Lagos. Products of the brand were hard to get your hands on if you were a person with an average income and without an international network. Still the symbol was, and is celebrated widely across the cities. It had to resonate to something, because people even made their own interpretations of the logo.
